Court Dismisses Case Against Gov. Ayo Fayose

Nigeria’s Supreme court in Abuja has dismissed the suit by All Progressives Congress, challenging Gov. Ayo Fayose eligibility to contest the 21 June, 2014 election in the state.
Today, April 14, 2015, the court ruled that Fayose’s impeachment in 2006 was not enough to unseat him as the elected governor. The decision was taken by a seven-man panel led by Justice John Fabiyi. In the lead judgement delivered by Justice Sylvester Ngwuta, the apex court dismissed all the grounds of appeal filed by the petitioner, All Progressives Congress. APC alleged irregularities, intimidation of its leaders by the military, ineligibility of Fayose to stand for the election in 2014. They also alleged he forged his Higer National Diploma certificate he presented to INEC. Court strucked out those docs due to lack of merit.
